Why Steam doesn't open but downloads stuff?

Romano

My Steam client opens whenever he wants, but today I noticed something strange, I left the small Window "loading" while checking the WiFi network graph, somehow Steam never loads but its downloading data, How? or Why? I must kill the process to try again and see if it opens, only after a few tries it successfully launches

Can anyone explain this? this mostly happens when my internet connection is lost and I have to reconnect to another network, for example other router

as soon as I killed the Steam process the graph went to zero, whats downloading if it never loads? and why does it struggle so much to open? other programs like Origin, Skype, Discord Dropbox doesn't have this problem they open really quick no matter what, they don't sit in a infinite loop

I have similar issues with steam, where I need to kill it as a background process since it never loads. My guess is it gets stuck in some sort of loop error.

This is because Steam is a cloud-based application and needs a constant connection to the internet, although this is never more than 900KB/s. It's not downloading, it's waiting for the Steam servers to connect to your home internet.

The loading issue you have though is a Steam server bug and is usually solved by ending the task in Task Manager and then re-launching Steam.
