Will this Bottleneck?

Go to solution Solved by ne0tic,

It would definitely not bottleneck because your CPU is REALLY good! But you should get a better GPU like a GTX 1070 Ti or GTX 1080 because a i7 8700K is really overkill for a GTX 1060 3GB!

Have a great day!

So I just bought an i7-8700k and I was wondering, if I use it with my GTX 1060 3gb will it make the GPU bottleneck? It would help a lot if I get an answer, Thank You.

Current Pc Parts:

-CPU: Intel i7-9700k

-GPU: EVGA RTX 2070 black edition

-CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62

-Mobo: Asus z390-E gaming

-Ram: Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 32g @3000MHz

-Storage: Samsung 850evo 256Gb

-Storage: Toshiba 1Tb 7200rpm

-Case: NZXT H500

-Extra: NZXT Hue 2

You are probably talking about a bottleneck in gaming. This will depend on the resolution you are playing at. If it's 2k or 4k, your GPU will have difficulty with it. On 1080p you should be fine.

It can, depending your game and if you're still at 1920x1080p for whatever reason...

Either ways yah... i7 8700K is too much CPU for too little GPU considering you can pair even the Pentium G4560 with a GTX 1060 3gb... for gaming focus at least.

Yes, it will, but you will be fine. the 1060 is pretty good. Im rokin a 1050ti and an X4 880k Athlon and I can run everything fine. It will bottleneck it, but you will still get some great FPS

Damn, I just hate it when a 1060 3gb is a bottle neck to itself.
The struggles.

He means that the Cpu is way too strong compared to the GPU, it was just a simple mistake he wrote.

The GPU doesn't bottleneck the CPU because the CPU doesn't care what the GPU is doing. The GPU cares what the CPU is doing because the CPU has to send it render commands.

Your GPU will be a bottleneck, but it's the preferred thing to be bottlenecked.

Well I just bought a Intel i7-8700k and a prime z-370-A. Still need to buy the rest of the parts for my new computer. It's going to take forever for me to get a new GPU. I dont want my processor to be overkill for my GPU.

For the price of a 1060 3GB ($250) you can get a used GTX 980 Ti that will perform much better Here's a link to an eBay filter, but you should look on Craigslist etc.
