any good mp3 player for running?

my ipod nano broke, and try to run using my cell phone but now this thinks are getting bigger and harder to carry, so I would like to find a suitable replacement for my needs since the iPod nano has old specifications and apple  discontinued the collaboration with nike for which you can no longer upload the information to the nike + program, any suggestions?

Unfortunately, due to the smartphone craze we no longer have any good dedicated MP3 players on the market from common household brand names anymore. (An iPod Touch is NOT a portable music player in the same way as the iPod Classic or Nano were, so we'll leave that argument for another day.) The closest thing to a small music player I could recommend for running would be something tiny and sort of good like a SanDisk Sansa player, or whatever Sony offers in your country. https://www.sandisk.com/home/mp3-players

I'm on your side though, as I'd LOVE to see a portable music player that can sync Spotify tracks for offline listening for doing outdoor activities where you wouldn't want your phone on you during the entire time. There is this Mighty Spotify Music Player thingy, but I've got no personal experience with it. Might[y] just be what you need. :P https://bemighty.com/

Apple Watch Sport with Wireless headphones. Or a recent Galaxy Gear Watch.

Google doesn't seem to be relevant in the smart watch game.

If I were in the market for a small MP3 player like you're after, I'd 100% grab the Shanling m0. Tiny like the iPod, but has Bluetooth and all the other goodies.

Battery life won't be as good as the Nano, but it's expandable. So. Win.

Really, though, I'd probably find a Nano 6G and buy that. Unless you need Bluetooth.

You're right - I've edited my original post to reflect that common household brand names are no longer making any good portable MP3 players. But there's indeed still a large niche market for these things if one is willing to check out places like head-fi.org or other audio websites. Sadly, the Shanling player you suggested still doesn't sync Spotify tracks, however, it definitely looks like a promising MP3 player as @skul1crusher was wanting.

Sony still makes some pretty decent ones, like the NW-A40 series. They also have some very high end ones that are really beautiful, but lacking a feature here or there.

They also have some USB stick style ones if he doesn't care about screens.

Pioneer still makes a few, though they're not exactly what the OP is looking for.
