Cpu 8 pin compatibility

Go to solution Solved by Lurick,

It's a 4+4 connector so you just use the one half of the connector and it will work just fine.

Hello

I have finished building my budget build and just realised that my psu is to weak.

I've seen a decent looking psu (Thermaltake TR2 Series 600 W ) and saw that it has a 8 pin cpu connector.

But my sandy bridge motherboard only has 4 pin port.

Will the psu still work with my system?

Sorry if this question is stupid and I'm overlooking something.

Thank you very much and sorry for the bother

No bother, better to ask to be sure than wind up with something that doesn't work :)

Just a note, the TR2 is NOT a good PSU... It's an older group regulated design...

Just some bapo nerd from 'Straya
