Is it possible to power a video card using some notebook chargers?

Hello guys! :)

I was wandering today about powering a videocard a bit differently.

Let's assume that you have a bunch of notebook chargers and you have a powerful (powerhungry? :D) VGA which could be powered by them.

(...aand you don't have a powerful enough PSU for it so you have to do the DIY way.)

o.O       o.O       O.o

You might be looking like these smileys above. That's fine. (Everything is fine :D)

I know.... I know... laptop chargers are not meant for this kind of a thing or do they?

Instead of powering a notebook you just power an other device with it...

So in theory (aside from the "crazyness") is it possible to connect the 'bricks' together - to be able to provide enough current to the vga - and solder a PCI-E power cable to the end of this monster power supply aaand.... woalaa?

no no...... you definitely got it right the first time

laptop chargers aren't the right voltage , are low wattage , and have no active cooling and are just made to slowly charge a battery and just float it once charged.

yeah , no. just buy a better power supply.

Don't worry, I wouldn't do that :)

I don't even have the tools for this. :/

I know these chargers usually output 19V which would cause the vga to visit heaven.

The voltage could be lowered am I right?

How about using multiple charger so their power output would add up?

The whole question was for my curiosity. :) Nobody should try it at home.
