If you can avoid getting the 7700K it will be better to be on a current plattform. AM4 will last till 2020 so your motherboard will that gen's CPUs.

The i7 will be better for now, but you will be stuck on a dead plattform. Unless you have a very good deal on the i7 i personally would avoid it as Ryzen 3000 CPUs are expected to beat the 7700k/8700k im singlethreaded.

How much are you paying for the deal with your friend?

well my plan was to use the I7 when it's relevant and just place the AMD in another rig (im gonna build my brother a rig) and when ryzen 3000 will eventually come out sell my Ryzen with my GPU (1070 TI) and buy the Ryzen 3000 series and give my brother the i7

it's worth $450 dollars new (the motherboard Asus ROG z270e) and he is selling it to me for $275 (trade with my 980Ti) less than what he is currently selling it

Sounds like a plan. Grab the 7700k for now then. It will serve you well for the forseeing future

Ryzen as their motherboards can support 1000 series, 2000 series and possibly 3000. The i7 is better but future Ryzen processors are sure to beat the i7.

yeah i know that but as of know im gonna use it until ryzen 3000 series comes out (as i said im gonna give my ryzen 5 1600 to my brother and use the i7 and when the ryzen 3000 comes out im gonna sell the ryzen and give my i7 to my brother)

i7 7700k is way faster than R5 1600 for single core tasks, games and maybe video editing. If you are not into machine learning or software like blender there is no reason to choose ryzen. $275 is an okish deal for z270 + 7700k.

Main system (Mini itx 80mm)

i5-7500 | Asrock h110m | Noctua L9i | Realan H80 Case | 8GB 2400 Ram ADATA | M600 SSD | 500 GB Seagate

Other System (Laptop)

i7 3632QM | Toshiba | 8GB Corsair VS RAM | Sandisk SSD PLUS | 500GB Toshiba HDD
