What if I want to add an extra screen in the future. Will an HDMI to DVI-D cable work fine for that?

It should, HDMI and DVI-D have similar specs, but VGA is a lot lower than the two. However, If you plan on getting a new monitor, I recommend using a HDMI or Displayport monitor and cable.

Yes but I don't think the founders card does. Or is that the 1080ti.

I looked at Nvidia's online user manual PDF, and it had Dual-Link DVI.

Hi!

I recently upgraded from an AMD R9 card to a GTX 1080. My monitor uses VGA and I have an HDMI to VGA adapter. The problem is that, when I play games, horizontal fuzzy lines appear on dark/grey areas of the screen. I did not have this problem with my R9 card. How can I, if possible, solve this problem without buying a new monitor?

Thanks in advance!

Would a HDMI to DVI-D and then a DVI-D cable be better?

I'm assuming you are using the same monitor as before, so it isn't that.

My concern main is the adapter, afaik a DVI adapter would work better, but you might want a second opinion on that

Does the monitor have a DVI input? that would probably be best to not have to use an adapter. the difference between DVI and HDMI in negligible, aside from HDMI carrying sound

My monitor have a DVI-D Dual link, i think. Should I go for a HDMI to DVI-D cable then?

The 1080 should have a DVI-D output on it. Just go DVI-D to DVI-D without an adapter.
