MSI GTX 680 stuck at 324 MHz

Hi all,

I recently got 2 MSI GTX 680 4gb cards and an sli bridge for free. However, when I put it in my system I found that one of the cards was working great, while the other is stuck at idle speeds.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I understand that these are rather old cards, but I don't have anything better than this.

Things I have already tried:

  • Flashing the vBIOS
  • downloading older drivers
  • downloading newer drivers
  • disabling and enabling in task manager
  • switching PCIe slots
  • Overclocking
  • messing with power plan options
  • only using the one card

I've tried everything I could find online. Any help is appreciated.

Specs:

  • Motherboard: M5A97 R2.0
  • CPU: fx 8350 @ 4.0Ghz
  • RAM: 2x8 gb PNY DDR3 @ 1600Mhz
  • GPU(S): MSI GTX 680 4gb
  • PSU: 850w Thermaltake

I helped someone in a thread where undervolting the gpu then returning it to normal actually fixed its behavior. have you tried tuning voltage down yet?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Is SLI enabled, does the games in particular support SLI?

Furmark only tests 1 GPU at a time.

It is still stuck at idle speeds when running furmark when it is the only gpu in the system
