Buy now or wait?

MrTralala

Howdy people. For the past few months I have been eagerly waiting for the new turing cards to drop so that I can finally get myself a GTX 1070/1070 Ti at close to MSRP price but I am at a point which I am so sick and tired of waiting that I just feel like spending the extra bit to get it now. What fuels me further is that the current prices are near MSRP. Currently, there are some GTX 1070 on Lazada going for 599 SGD (440 USD) with 5 years warranty. It almost seems so tempting for me to go for it considering we don't know when the next lineup of cards are coming.

Primarily what I am looking for is a GPU that can run 1080p 144hz on max settings. I think the 1070 fits the bill, but a 1070 Ti would be nice to have instead. What do you guys recommend I do?

max setting on 144fps is not achievable with 1070 tho... maybe cs go, but any demanding game wont run :)

Hm...if that's the case, would a 1070 Ti do fine?

@trevor_leong

Next-gen cards are being announced in August according to numerous sources:

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-11-series-graphics-cards-price-fall/

Unless your current GPU is broken and you absolutely need a replacement ASAP, I would wait as the 11 series is right around the corner now.

For the most part my current GPU (GTX 960) is tolerable, it runs most of the games I play above 60 fps at low settings, but it is a real killer for me to play with potato like graphics and still not reach anywhere near 144 fps. You are probably right though, I should wait it out.
