Hey guys , soon I'll be going to high school and would like to ask for recommendations on 13 inch laptops that can run linux well , I personally considered this xps 13 9370

I7 8550u

16gb ram

512 gb ssd

4k touch screen

Would it be enough for everyday tasks , some light stuff and also KDE Neon?

I wouldn't go for 4k touch, it lowers your battery life and bump up the price, glossy panel is also really annoying, take only if you strongly belive that you NEED touch functionality ( rather not), the same things linus said in his video about xps's

sure, best series of everyday laptops you could get

Yea , I'd like to spend more on something like that xps since it will last me 2-3 maybe even 4 years rather a year that a 200$ laptop would last me , also it will be my main pc so yeah , also is egpu doable? Like down the road could I connect a 1060 egpu to it and do 1080p60?

1060 will do 1080p60, but using Thunderbolt, you lose some of that bandwidth so you wont get full 1060 performance.

it doesn't kill battery that bad and as long as your not using your laptop in sunlight the glossy panels fine and 4k is way more useful for the extra space especially if your going to be programming or taking notes while doing other stuff.

it is subjective, I admit that high res is really nice, I had surface pro and loved the screen, but my concerns turn me to 1080p matt display. btw I applied matt screen protector on the screen of the surface and it was better :)

13" is very small for 4k. I'm using 1080p at 15" and that's just right imo

That's an F in the profile pic

it does depend on the person id recommend going to a store and checking if 4k with no scaling on 13 inches is good for you but for me i love it since im used to having a lot of monitors so this way i can have the same space as 4 1080p monitors in a small form factor its also hilarious hearing teachers saying they can't read anything on your screen
