Hey guys,

Short question, is a Intel Core i7 860 (codename Lynfield) Still good to game? My little brother needs a new MOBO but is it worth buying a new socket 1156 board? Or buy a AM3+ mobo and get a FX-6300?

He also renders his Youtube video's. But no real or heavy editing.

Thanks in advance!

Get an 8320 and the cheapest MSI boardbyo can find to match.

emm no its not lol. you check some benchmarks .and not cpu boss. they are about the same stock per stock so getting the fx 6300 IS NOT an upgrade

^ This. They are about the same clock for clock as a 8320. If you oc it to 4ghz you will have a 8350. The 8350 is garbage as far as floating point. They can match Nehalem die shrink clock for clock and that's about it.

AMD came out with a 4ghz Nehalem, which is why they use so much power. Why people are impressed with them? I have no idea. People had 8350's in 2009 with an overclock with Nehalem...
