Im just wondering whats the best PSU Calculator to use to calculate whether or not you have the right PSU or not?

None as they all tend to overestimate. The best option is to just look up reviews of the CPU and GPU to see how much they actually consume and then add a bit extra for everything else.

I usually take a look at YouTube tech channels who have the same/potential rig with relatively same components, and see how much wattage they use, and go from there.

if you have a single GPU with middle of the road desktop CPU 500W is usually enough, if higher end GPU+CPU shoot for more 650W-750W

 

If HEDT sky's the limit.

I use PCPartPicker's and aim for a bit more power than what's stated there.

 

For example, if a PC is stated by PCPartPicker to use 473W, I'll usually aim for 550W.

Its just that im using a 750watt PSU and reciently added a 1080 and watercooling and wondering if its upto the job.

The Problem with PSU Calculators is that you have to use them right.

But if you do know about that, you usually also know what components might consume.

 

In short:
The only important part of a build is CPU and GPU. And those values you can do yourself with a pen and a a piece of Paper.

So there is no need for PSU Calculators because you can do that yourself with minimal effort.

 

 

In short:
w/o OC, for a Single CPU/GPU Desktop: 400-450W

with a bit of OC and "to feel safe", Single CPU/GPU Desktop: 550W

 

650W is bullshit, especially if it doesn't come with 2 PCIe connectors or you are planning on getting a HEDT system. But then again, why wouldn't you go the whole mile and get the 750W because in some/many cases the 750W is a different unit. Like be quiet Straight Power 11.

Take the estimate from a PSU calculator, halve the result, there you go.

Well i put all my components into PC Part Picker and it calculated 468watt needed so i think the 750watt is ample.
