Hello.

Due to hardware instability issues I need to buy new hardware. Mostly I will be using it for software development, some virtualization and light gaming such as WoW, Trasnport Fever, Pillars of Eternity 2 and various steam games. I usually do not change my hardware often and would like the it to last a while (as in several years).

Currently I am considering the following hardware:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
ASUS PRIME X470-PRO
Corsair CX650M
Corsair Carbide 100R Silent
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 DC 16GB

I will be using my current GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Ti WindForce.

Does this seem reasonable?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

CX is a pretty cheap PSU with chinese capacitors.  It is not up to the standard of quality set by the rest of Corsair's offerings.

Any of these would be better:

Do not cheap out on your PSU.  It has the honored distinction of being the only component that can take everything else with it when it dies.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Hi again.

I appreciate your replies.

Did a little digging and it looks like the latest generation of Ryzen CPUs, the 2xxx ones (the ZEN+ ?), currently have several issues running under Linux which I need my system to do, while the 1xxx series seems to do fine. I going to do a lower spec system instead.

Now, an AMD based system is not a requirement but from what I have read, it is my impression that the Ryzen is a little stronger when running multiple threads. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have not yet decided on a PSU and suggestions would be appreciated. Stability, low noise level and perhaps modularity are priorities here.

I will likely not be overclocking.

Thanks
