best widescreen curved monitor (32"-35") ?

Hi, I'd like to invest in a good widescreen curved monitor going between 32" up to 34" (or 35").

I'm not into gaming, so I don't need best of refresh rate, it's meant for 2D and 3D content creation with (non-professional) video editing.

I'm not asking for a 5K iMac 27" quality, but as close as it can get without completely emptying my pockets.

34"

I see positive comments concerning the LG - 34UC89G-B and the Samsung - C34F791 but I'm open to any suggestion (they are a bit pricey though).

32"

For a decent 32", how about the Samsung - C32F391 ?

I'd let myself be tempted by the Samsung C32HG70, which is getting great reviews, although the PWM technology is said to fatigue the eyes ...

But this review https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/chg70 states this :

Quote

 Flicker-free : Yes
PWM Dimming Frequency : 0 Hz
Black Frame Insertion (BFI) : Yes

So I'm confused. Is this going to give me eye-fatigue or not ?

Just stumbled on the announcement of a very promising 32" monitor from Samsung : the C32JG52, 32" WQHD Curved Gaming Monitor with 144hz refresh rate

Worth the wait ?

I already have a Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 56 Pulse GPU.

I personally have the Samsung C32HG70 and I absolutely love it. I stare at it for hours daily and I do not get fatigued eyes, though this might be subjective.

ok, interesting. I'm really hesitating between the C32HG70 and the upcoming C32JG52. It's really the PWM behaviour of the former, although only noticeable when adjusting the brightness setting below 100%. It seems though that Samsung learned the lesson by offering an entry or mid-range gaming monitor which is flicker-free. Well, how to decide ?

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn't it bother you the monitor isn't 4K, especially on such a large screen?

The 34" LG is 2560x1080 which I would avoid especially on that large a monitor. I would go for Ultra-wide over 16:9 for productivity any day of the week, the C34F791 would be the one I'd nab out of the options you presented. I own an Asus XG35VQ and love it, the tech specs are almost identical to the C34F791, has slightly worse contrast but is 1" larger / slightly more curved:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236855

Both the C34F791 and the XG35VQ run at 100Hz which is much smoother than 60Hz and at a high 3440x1440 resolution, awesome for just about anything, I would highly reccomend.

Not at all. I will admit, that that may be even due to the fact that my current GPU just is not cut out for 4k but even with new GPU I would not go for 4k display right now. I do not find it pixelated or bad looking at all. My previous monitors were 21.5" AOC full HD and I do not feel like it is worse picture quality wise. I am perfectly happy with it.

But mind you, of course 4k would be way sharper and the fact that I am perfectly content with my picture quality is really a subjective thing, also I do not work with any graphical software, where I would really need the sharper resolution, so that also is a factor.

thanks for the feedback. 34" is a bit too wide for me. Are there any 4K 32" curved monitors out there (if possible with eye care) ? If I forsake the curved line, this one looks nice : SAMSUNG U32H850 32" 4K Ultra HD LED.

On the other hand, if I'm doing a lot of text editing too, wouldn't an IPS panel be recommended over a VA or MVA one ?

I don't think you'd have a problem with a VA panel but IDK.

The real reason I suggest Ultrawide is the convenience it brings in terms of split screening programs / windows, splitting screen on a 16:9 display kind of sucks IMO. In video editing software you can undock several highly used panels and have a file explorer open with space to spare. Trying to edit in premiere on a 16:9 display without the program taking up 100% of the real estate is a chore. Same goes for programming or writing in general, 50% of the screen for typing, the other half for a browser to look things up and directly reference while the other program is still on screen.

But yeah basically all 3440x1440 displays are 34"+ and I wouldn't suggest a lower resolution for an ultrawide. If you're set on 16:9 you can't go wrong with just about any 4k Samsung display.

Thanks for the feedback.

I actually found a 4K 32" samsung screen : Samsung U32J590UQU. Haven't found any reviews on it yet (maybe it's just out) but the specs look nice. Couldn't find a meaningful difference with the Samsung U32H850UMU. So if you find one...:)

As far as I can tell the U32J590UQU is slightly superior, thinner, brighter, less power consumption.
