Hi friends.

I found a random old HP XW4400 PC. Only it has no RAM. I don't know what RAM to buy. I can buy the original HP DDR2 (SDRAM) for €21 which is very expensive because of shipping, the actual price is €13. I can also buy this https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0087NGX4E/ref=asc_df_B0087NGX4E1530878400000/?tag=pricewatch-21&creative=22662&creativeASIN=B0087NGX4E&linkCode=df0&language=nl_NLDDR2 from Micro Memory, would this work with my PC? My next question is: what CPU can I upgrade to? It currently has an E6600 Core2Duo. It's socket 775 with chipset 975X. I've looked around online but I can't really find anything. I would like to upgrade to a Core2Quad or even XEON but I don't know what would work. If anyone know please tell me. Thanks you all :)

This is an old workstation, you will need ECC RAM to max out the ram at 8GB, it will take non-ECC, but only up to 2GB of ram.

You will need to update the BIOS and then the max CPU the system will accept is a QX6800, no Xeons.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
