Ram sockets

I have a gigabyte 78 LMT-USB3. It says to run the ram in slots 2 and 4 for dual channel memory, but however slot 2 is blue and slot 4 is black. So should I run both ram sicks in the blue/black slots or follow the instrutions and run one stick in each color? I'm currently following the instructions and everything is working fine btw.

They just seam kinda confusing, like why have one stick in the blue slot and one in the black slot?!

I am confused. googling your board shows up either blue and white DIMM sockets, or black and grey. Maybe the pix are all just bad. Either way, I think from the small print on the motherboard, you should put them in the grey/blue slots for dual channel. Seeing as they are labeled DDR3_1 and DDR_2. I assume that means to populate them first? What does the manual say exactly?

Very easy way to tell, run CPU-Z and click on the memory tab, if under channels it has double, you are good to go! If you don't have CPU-z, google it, or use the link:

Yea it can be pretty stupid sometimes. My friend who knows plenty about building computers had his RAM in single channel mode on his LGA 775 board for years. Glad you got it sorted out.
