Hi!

i have a gtx980 ti overclocked and i wonder why is my score different on almost identical setup:

asus prime z370-a + 8700k oced to 5ghz + 980 ti...score 20700
msi z370 gaming pro carbon + 8700k oced to 5ghz + 980 ti...score 19500

why such difference? same proc oc, same gpu oc, same memory...

MSI boards use looser memory secondary and tertiary timings compared to Asus boards.

What about PSU? Temps and core clocks on both CPU and GPU?

There are different, separate scores for CPU and GPU performance in Firestrike and TimeSpy. What are those performance figures?

This may be a part of it, but I think 6% difference seems too much to be explained only by memory timings... Even though 3DMark scores is supposed to be memory dependent...

Make a couple more runs and you'll see a different result. That is within margin of error.

XMP has no control over to secondary and tertiary timings, it's up to the motherboard to find the right values for them.

 

Another possibility could be whether the uncore was overclocked.

2 identical system? Try my system, sometime i scored 20k and sometime 19.5k with no hardware/software change.
