i have an old dell inspiron 620, its power button connector is a 15 pin connector, i want to try to switch cases, but that case only has a 2 pin power button connector, is there any way i could switch them successfully?

If you have a multimeter you could verify this. But just shorting the pins when its off is also a good way to test (the power pin)

After its on you could measure the led connectors.

So those are correct BUT, cpu fan runs at full speed, and sometimes slows down to normal speed then speeds up to 100%. At the moment I have the motherboard and everything else in the old case but have the case open with the power button from the other case connected into this one, could that be the reason for 100% speed?

Nope, that should not be of any influence. Not unless its rebooting all the time.

It does sound like a bad cpu cooler (or bad contact) you should monitor the temps to see if the rise and drop with the fans kicking in.

I do have an extra one I will try if that is the problem, it doesn't usually do this, only when I try what I'm doing now
