So I have 2 windows 10 pc and one 2008 Mac Pro. I have my laptop connected to the Mac Pro via Ethernet so I can use the Mac as a server and the Mac has two Ethernet ports but when I connect the sff desktop (dell optiplex 960) it won’t find the Mac at all on the network tab but it works fine on my laptop

No how do I do that

There are a couple things going on if they are connected directly that could be a problem.

1. Your NIC (the hardware card) needs to be able to support crossover. Some do, some don't. If they don't your option is use a crossover cable or a switch.

2. You'll have to assign an IP somehow. Systems will auto generate an IP sometimes and this might work but it's better to affix one to them in the network settings.
