Z370-E or Maximus X Hero?

Yeah. I'm interested in overclocking an 8700k to around 5 ghz. The maximus has better VRMs and power delivery, however I don't know if the extra 80 AUD is worth it. I won't really use the wifi and bluetooth on the z370-e anyways.

 

inb4 "just get a ryzen" xdddd

 

EDIT: Maximus also has handy things like a post indicator (forgot the name lol) and bios reset and flashback

Do you really like the Asus brand or RGB sync feature or the looks?

I mean, what board would you recommend? Doesn't have to be asus:)

Asrock Z370 K6. It has dual BIOS (cant write to the slave BIOS so in theory you cant brick the board), post code display, on/off switch and reset CMOS switch (though they are on the mobo front, you have to open up the case to use them). The VRMs are Asrock-typical overkill, and it's 230AUD. Two things that makes it less desirable than the Z370-E are the BIOS lacks more advanced options 99% of buyers never use, and it's black but not white.

Maximus has clock gen chip and even more options in the BIOS. Better PCB trace layout, spot on voltage readings and lower voltage ripple also helps hitting higher overclocks... under extreme cooling and a well-binned CPU. There's also benefits to memory overclocking, if you will get one of those 4266MHz CL19 kits that is.

random because you are getting random VRM and Mosfets, there are multipe variants.
