How much does it matter?

OnionRings

How much does 2 power pins and 1 fan make when it comes to overclocking? I just snagged myself a refurbished EVGA SC 1060 6GB for 240 off ebay, I wanted the SSC one I found which has an 8 pin and 2 fans instead of 6-1 but they sold out too fast. I was just wondering how much different 2 pins and 1 fan really makes when it comes to overclocking and cooling. I'm guessing like 5% if even that.

It doesent really make a difference on a 1060

I'm glad. I had a 1050 ti with no plug and it freaking sucked, dam card was always begging for more power, I know its made for lightweight gaming but they really should put 6 pins on those cards. Even not overclocked the card still gives you voltage and power limit warnings while gaming.

1050ti can use more than 75W which is provided by the PCI-e so it definitely cant run at its best when its limited like this.

1060 is fine with single 6-pin, same for 1050ti.

I’ve never, not once, ever had a power warning on either of my 1050ti’s while gaming in computers with 240w poser supplies and pci-e slots that claim to be only 35w...

what application is giving you the warning?

MSI afterburner/riva tuner OSD. I use it while gaming and I had those 2 limiters to pop up when the limit was reached. Even after I reset my PC and drivers to stock settings the card still bickered at me. It's fine though I wanted an upgrade anyway, the 1050 ti is not a bad little card at all but I wanted a bit more power.
