Need some opinions on which used video card to buy

Hey guys I'm just looking for some second opinions on my buying dilemma. Looking to buy a used video card off Kijiji and I cannot make a decision. My options are:

- Zotac GTX 1050Ti 4GB listed at $180 CAD

- Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 4GB listed at $180 CAD

- MSI RX 470 4GB listed at $200 CAD

Some other important information is that the power supply for the system is a 500w Rosewill unit so I have some doubts about the R9 290 using that psu. Basically I wonder if I should go for a newer card such as the RX 470 or 1050Ti, even if it is a little bit slower just for the fact that they are a newer architecture and perhaps have better driver support. Any insight you guys can give is appreciated. Thanks!

I think your instincts are correct.  I'd get the 1050ti.

The RX470 absolutely wrecks the 1050Ti. Go with that.

Lol wut.

The 290 is the "best" card but eats a crap ton of power and is older. The 470 performs a couple percentage points slower but has much more reasonable power consumption. I'd go for that. Also look at used 980ti's or even a Fury if you can find a good deal (rare)

I do have the 1050ti, and I can say it does preform alright, with playing most every gaming 60fps fine, But I can say the RX470 out preforms it in every way, I would say go with the RX470!

I stand corrected.  Didn't think the 470 was that much better and I prefer the nvidia cards, owning both brands.

If you have no preference in manufacturer then the 470 is the best card.

I'd never let brand idealisms force me into getting a significantly worse performing product.

Nobody said force.  Prefer is the term I used.  I have cards from both manufactures.  I prefer Nvidia, mostly for performance and drivers

I've used a 1060,680 and now a 1050ti and the drivers have not proven very clean at all. I've had to reinstall often to fix problems it throws up.

Your card is your card, I'm just saying don't let that little green badge persuade you to buy an inferior product

To be fair, I might be letting my experience with a Vega FE color my opinion of AMDs cards.  That thing is a disaster to try and game with.  My daughters system has a 570 in it and I haven't ever games with it, but I never hear any complaints so I assume it's fine.

I have never had an Nvidia driver crash a game or hang during an update.  Maybe I am just lucky there.
