MacBook Pro Dual Boot EGPU

Hey Guys new to the forums here but wanted some info before I made a purchase.

 

I currently have a custom pc I’ve built up other some time and it works a treat but I haven’t had time to use it to its full potential anymore and wanted to buy something a little more portable but will still be able to play games from time to time.

 

was looking at loads of gaming laptops but they are just way above my budget atm and even though i’m mainly a windows guy i’ve been mainly using a Macbook pro at work.

 

What I wanted to know is how well MacBook Pro running windows will work with an EGPU or if it will work at all and if not dualbootes then running something like parallels to run windows instead.

 

I know a lot of people would just say stick to a windows laptop sucu as the Razer Blade or the MSI GS63 or something of the sort but would still like the options to use MacOS for day to day tasks and windows for gaming.

As long as you're running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or newer, you can use basically any EGPU you want. I wouldn't bother with a 13" MacBook Pro, though, as the dual core CPUs in those are too weak for today's games. And under Windows, you can use EGPUs fine too. Expect 20% less performance than the GPU would normally get when the card is internal. When using the internal display the performance drop is much greater.
