Windows 10 decided to update when I turned on my PC. For some reason it said it failed to update and will undo changes. After it restarted I get the black screen with the windows logo and a loading wheel of dots.

But after that it's just a black screen. I can move the mouse and the cursor is the blue loading wheel.

I can't get into my PC.

Help.

Edit: I booted in recovery mode/repsir mode or whatever. Used start up repair and got this message. (Image 2)

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't help because I can't get on to the OS...

You can make the installation USB using a different computer.

You don't need to get into the OS to clean install windows.

If that was the case then everyone would have to throw their computer out every time something went wrong with the OS.

Windows is corrupted. Start up repair won't do anything. You need to re-install Windows 10. Pain in the ass, but that's the quickest fix for this. I've seen it so many times. You can get Windows back up and running in about an hour or so, just will have to re-install everything. Won't lose any of your files. You just need at least an 8GB USB drive and go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and download this tool which will download a win10 .iso and install it on your usb for you so you can then just boot from the usb and re-install windows. You will need a separate working computer for this tho.

(there are a lot of other troubleshooting steps you can try, but in my experience almost none of them work and this is the quickest fix for me)

Main Rig: cpu: Intel 6600k OC @ 4.5Ghz; gpu: Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2080 (OC'd); mb: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3; ram: 16 GB (2x8GB) 3000 G.Skill Ripjaws V; psu: EVGA 650BQ; storage: 500GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB WD Black; case: Cooler Master HAF 912; cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, Lots of fans, Air!; display: 4k Samsung 42" TV, Asus MX259H 1080p audio: Schiit Audio Magni Amp w/ Audio Technica M50x
