Lav Mic Compatibility with PC

I recently bought a $2 Lav mic from wish.com as a joke... But, when plugged into my phone, it is actually really good quality.

To be able to get the Lav mic working on my PC (as I do not currently have a mic for it), would I be able to just buy a powered 3.5mm to USB adapter like the one linked below?

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/ADPATC26290/Audio-Technica-ATR2-USB-35mm-to-USB

Or would I be wasting my time and my money?

Just wondering as I would much rather use what I already have, rather than go out and buy an external microphone.

Thanks for any and all helpful comments :)

Your motherboard may have one on it. Look through the user guide of your motherboard. I think the Z370-HD3 has one.

Doesn't seem to. When I plug it in and go to monitor, all I get is a slight hissing sound.

don't get that.

get this: https://www.amazon.com/external-Adapter-Windows-Microphone-SD-CM-UAUD/dp/B001MSS6CS

Here's me trying to show it isn't terrible.

https://vocaroo.com/i/s15hfudbHQLN -> lower gain, still very audible. I switch between two different mid-range drivers and two different tweeters. (note the buzzing is NOT present on my system, is just an artifact on vocaroo - download it as flac or wav). this little USB dongle is *very* powerful. Like, I got it specifically for the mic voltage is uses.

Thank you for showing me an alternative! I try to avoid Amazon as shipping is expensive to NZ, but this will still probably be cheaper.

I shall investigate further! Thank you.

Definitely not combined ports, and have tried all mic ports

  • 1 month later...

Resurrecting but it's the syba stereo USB adapter. Could very well be available there. Lots look like it, but that specific one has a 5v mic circuit which is very nice to have.
