What is this cable for?

Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

Looks like it's for Xbox 360 E.

A/V out (special minijack port for composite video and stereo audio)

I found this cable recently and i have no idea what it is for, both my xbox 360 and my xbox one s/x do not have a plug for this that makes sense (the only thing that has (looks like) auxiliary is the IR port which to me stands for infrared port) (both the s and x have the same back and i have never owned the original Xbox one so it cannot be from that)

the back of the S

What's on the other end?  Big bulky connector made of gray plastic?  Likely for an Xbox earlier than XBOne.

no the other end is shown, from what i understand its an auxiliary plug (works with my phones audio jack)

How odd.  I've found the cable for sale multiple places, but I can't personally see a use for it.  Never heard of a 3.5mm jack being used for RCA video...

Edit:

This seems to indicate that on certain 360 models this cable was used, 3.5 on X360 side to RCA composite output to connect to TV.  I've never personally seen it:

yeah i see now i had an elite 360 which died and i brought another which was used to play bo2 for like 2 weeks then it was backwards compatible with my one, and the plug is for the back of that. the reason i asked is cause the tv that is in my lounge room does not have a auxiliary out cable (only optical) and i wanted to set up an old ken-wood surround system up but i didnt have an optical cable so i thought i could go from my xbox straight to the stereo for audio and keep the hdmi for video

Yeah it is old, I had no idea what it was for and I am waiting for an optical audio cable to arrive to hook up my stereo and saw that cable and though maybe that's for the xbox one but it wasn't then the search for what it was for haha
