Brother's computer just recently started having issues with playing online games

Title.

 

I have a switch running up to the attic, which one cable goes to my PC, and one goes 50 or 100 feet to my brothers computer. It used to be fine, with no network lag, but recently he's been complaining/ My speeds are usually ~150mb down, 50 up. Brother's is ~45 down, ~25 up. Thanks for the help!

Possible it's a problem client side. Plug your PC into his cable and see if you have the same problem

Just tried it and got 145 up. 20 down.

I'm assuming those are flipped because if not something really funky is going on here.

Try running iperf3 on each computer to see if packet loss is the issue.

My main PC (Hybrid Windows 10/Arch Linux):

OS: Arch Linux w/ XFCE DE (VFIO-Patched Kernel) as host OS, windows 10 as guest

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X w/PBO on (6c 12t for host, 6c 12t for guest)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Mobo: Asus X470-F Gaming

RAM: 32GB G-Skill Ripjaws V @ 3200MHz (12GB for host, 20GB for guest)

GPU: Guest: EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA Host: 2x Radeon HD 8470

Details: 12GB ram, GTX 1080, USB card passed through to windows 10 VM. VM's OS drive is the SATA SSD. Rest of resources are for Plex, Duplicati, Spaghettidetective, Nextcloud, and game servers.

A tool for measuring network bandwidth between two devices, among other things. Google is your friend for help with setting it up.

So I looked at the iperf3 setup it it seems extremely confusing. Also I noticed the his speed went down quite quickly when doing a speedtest.net benchmark, from 90~ to 45 mb. Is there any simpler way to find packet loss?
