Had to underclock my 780 ti on a 850 evga supernova, help?

Austretv

So my 780 Ti won't work it will crash at stock reference clocks it's an Asus 780 Ti DCU2 had to underclock memory and core Clocks by 10 megahertz because otherwise when it began to run a game or sometimes even just at idle on the desktop it would crash unless I would underclock my Mem and core clocks .  all temps are fine my PSU is a 850 EVGA Supernova and I just want to know why I can't overclock my 780 ti
Cpu 4790k 4.6ghz oc
Ddr3 2400mhz (xmp)  2 8gb sticks
780ti asus dcu2
850 evga supernova 80 plus gold
Asus maximus Hero 5
And i do have red tube lights
3 120m corsair case fans

why , I just don't know....but u could try over/under clock the pcie instead.... sometimes chips don't like that particular freq, so a small change up/down gives more stable result

Might be silicon lottery, your card just might not be able to overclock.

You're definitely good on power though. Can you give us a more accurate and detailed explanation of how it crashes?

An 850W PSU is more than enough for your rig. More than likely your 780Ti is at fault.

Maybe you just got unlucky with your chip. But it's pretty odd to be crashing at stock speeds. What programs is/are you running that are making it crash?

Try increase the voltage and check the power cable, make sure it fully plug in.
