Have you tried re-downloading your ISO?

I would try using a different computer to download the ISO and put it on the flash drive. From experience I have had weird issues like this be resolved by using a different computer with a freshly downloaded ISO. I also recommend using the community/torrent files to download rather than the mirrors provided.

Try RedHat, or Arch, or something not Debian based.

If those throw the same (or similar) errors, then your system is scrap and throw it away

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

*every* *nix will boot from USB.

I don't care if you only know debian (in point of fact, basic commands are identical across virtually all *nixes), I want to know if anything else will work. If it does work, then 18.04 doesn't like your PC. If it doesn't, then the PC is at fault.
