I'm wanting to get this for photos instead of my Samsung Galaxy J3's cam (it's not that good and I don't charge it often, two reasons for getting the camera), is this a good camera and can i get a cheaper one with the same features?

heck.

Looks fine to me. Point-and-shoot camera technology has gotten a lot better in the past few years, and it'll definitely be way better quality than the Galaxy J3.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Don't do it, just use your phone and if it isn't good enough, put the money in a jar, save up and buy a better phone. Hell you'd be better off with a Galaxy s7, than buying that thing and never using it in the end after a while. The phone will always be with you, modern smartphones take decent enough images, and if you don't end up using the camera a lot, you can play angry birds (or whatever is the rage these days.)

I picked up the Lumix TS20D in orange a couple years ago for around $70 CAD (don't ask; don't tell) and it does a decent job for being a rugged camera. Don't expect super sharp images, but color wise it's pretty accurate and is capable of shooting video if you have to use that feature, although I'd recommend an action cam for that. If I were home right now I'd attach some images taken from my camera to show you what they look like, but alas, I am not home.

Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)
