is it possible to install windows on a external sdd and then just boot from it when using a laptop? The laptop im using has full storage with win7 which is needed and i cant change. Can i install windows 10 on the external sdd and just boot from either one, similar to a dual boot but instead of partitions having physical drives?

If the external SSD is seen, I don't see why not...

However, I'd be careful doing said install, as the Win10 might decide the default drive to install to is the existing Win7, and happily overwrite it.

Setting up a boot manager (like GRUB) might be more of a trick, I have no experience with such things.
