Hey Guys,

Recently my Dad's PC gave up on him. He had his PC linked up to the TV (4k 75"). I decided that I was going to build a new PC for him. I have some spare parts lying around that I was going to base the rest of the system around.

4x4GB Patriot DDR3 RAM (Dont know anymore info)
NVidia Gigabyte GTX 960
3x Corsair SP120 Fans

680W PSU

I was wondering what CPU I should get. (The CPU must be able to handle 4k playback, the Chipset must be able to go into a motherboard that supports ddr3)

I dont have a budget but would prefer something under $100USD. He is only gonna be using it for checking social media, 4k movie playback and watching youtube.

Thank you in advanced Oliver

idk tbh

Intel Cpus Will help you on this one, don't try looking for any AMD, their new Ryzen sets are too expensive and overkill for what he does and old ones just can't handle 4k playbacl, so maybe just go for a decent Core IT that isn't fast, but can handle the playback

??? Ryzen is too expensive?

Most competitors are the same price... what type of bs is this

OP: If you want Netflix 4K, you'll need new RAM. I'd go for something Haswell or Ivy Bridge.

Most of the Decent Ryzen processors go over the 100 dollar budget, any Ryzen 5 and up and most of Ryzen 3, not all necessarily, but most that are worth the money

Ok let me just first say that I have looked into a Ryzen 3 but that uses the AM4 socket which you can not find motherboards with that socket that suppord DDR3 RAM. The ryzen series is too new

Ok let me just say that my dad has pretty bad internet so anything 4k wont be streamed offline, it would be downloaded earlier

Ah, ok. Get a older i5 3570/4460 combo and you'll be set.
