Hey! I'm on the market for a new laptop to use aside from my desktop (a fairly capable one), I have around $1400 to spend and I don't mind buying used and/or refurbished laptops.

I'm looking for something with an i7 7th gen or better, 1050Ti or better and just good overall quality, don't really care about design or colors or size (as long as it's not a 17" monster) nor brand. There are a lot of options out there and I just don't know if I'm missing any of 'em and I know for sure you guys may know 1 or 2 options that I could consider!

Do you care about battery life? Because forget a 1050ti you can get a laptop with a 1060 6gb and a 7700hq for $1050, but it's battery life is only about 1-3 hours when gaming 3-5 when you are just casually browsing the web.

I don't really care about battery life as a main problem, but the bigger the capacity, the better.

Wait! I found one with a 1060 3GB for $1120, and another for $1500 with a 1060 6GB!

The Dell G5/7 line is very solid. A used Inspiron 7567 will have a bigger battery but you sacrifice performance with the 7th gen i7 and a 1050ti instead of what might be a 1060

That's an F in the profile pic

Also, do you guys have any information on the MSI GS63 Stealth 8RE? I couldn't find any good info/reviews aside from raw spec sheets

Forgot to ask, where are you from? You can search for reviews on the previous gen GS63 (Notebookcheck or Ultrabookreview)

México, but have an address on the US. I'm actually considering the 7th gen i7 GS63 if I don't find a good deal on the 8th gen (or a good deal on a used 15" Macbook Pro) :-)

The Tracer Slim III looks so good! wow, thanks for this, I was actually considering the G3/5/7 models from Dell too, but there's something about thin laptops that make me prefer them a lot, ahh!!! so many options, hahaha. I'll let you know which one I went for, thanks for all your help.

Welcome. Keep in mind that Dell G5/G7 has TB3, meaning that you can plug in eGPU in future when the dGPU inside cannot keep up with more demanding games

So, in an unusual turn of events, I managed to get a 2016 15" Macbook Pro for just $1380 bucks in mint condition. Hope that eGPU keeps developing further for nvidia cards. I've got an unused 1050Ti that would crush the Radeon 460 inside the laptop. I'm pretty happy with this, haha.

I was actually going to get the Tracer III or a new intel 8th gen MSI GS63VR. If the MBP doesn't suit me (but I'm pretty sure it will) I can resell it for a good value and get one of those still :-) I love the internet man.

Hmm... Just my two cents.

Since you already have a capable main desktop, shouldn't you be a little more in favor of portability rather than raw performance? As in, your desktop is your primary gaming rig, and then you have your mobile setup when you're out and about?

You could save a ton of money going with something like an Acer Swift 3 with i5 8250u and GT 1030. Biggest benefit though, it 8+ hours of battery life. It just seems silly to me, to already have a capable desktop, then buy a "desktop replacement" laptop that you can't really take around with you anyway.

'Cause at that point, simply getting a Steam Link for your other room(s) would be better, if that's the problem.

That's exactly what I decided to do! I went with a super cheap Macbook Pro! Will see how it behaves, then decide to keep it or not. I've had mbp's before and they've never failed me so we'll see.
