Hello guys,

Im planning to upgrade my PC, my current specs is

cpu: AMD A8 5600k

motherboard: MSI A58M-E33

gpu: Sapphire R7 260x 2GB GDDR5

ssd: 60gb kingmaxx (For OS)

hdd: hitachi 500gb

cpu cooler: gammaxx 400

cpu case: nzxt phantom full tower

RAM: 2x4 8gb 1600mhz

PSU: 500 watts Aerocool VP PRO

Should i upgrade my CPU? or GPU?, i can only choose 1 CPU or GPU because i dont have budget at the moment im always playing Dota 2 and Counter-strike: Global Offensive

my current budget is 15,000 PHP, sorry im from Philippines, My First Option was to buy an Intel core i5 and a cheap motherboard, and my 2nd Option is Buying an GTX 1050ti or 1060 non ti (if my cpu can handle i guess lol)

Need ur opinion guys thank you so much

id suggest a CPU, Mobo, Ram upgrade. something like a B350 board and a R3 1200 with 8 GB of RAM. hopefully that should serve you well. either that or similar intel offering. like an 8100+B360 mobo.

this should be doable with you budget. your GPU is still fairly competent for 1080p or 720p gaming

I dunno man. I feel like if he gets a 1050ti that cpu in most situations can get most of the frames that card has to offer. Whereas the 260x will bottleneck most modern processors hard

Processor: Ryzen 5950x GPU: RTX 3080  Mobo: X570 Aorus Pro RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

The GPU will bottleneck the CPU, but so does the 1050ti. i feel like he can do the GPU upgrade later on, but there is nothing wrong with doing it the other way around. The GPU will probably provide the most imediate increase in performance.

if he waits with the CPU Ryzen 3 2000 might come out with B450 boards. im kinda with you on doing the GPU upgrade first

he could also look at the used market for a deal on a gtx 970 or R9 290x or 780ti. he just has to make shure his PSU has 2 PCI connectors and can do 500 watts

Indeed, I just think if he wants to see fame rate gains then in the short term a GPU upgrade is the way to go

are u sure they wont bottleneck? for a gtx 1050TI / 1060 non TI

Currently the GPU will be the determining factor of the frame rate in the games you play. With the 1050ti this effect will reverse, and although the CPU after the upgrade will technically be the bottleneck, you will get many more frames. Whereas upgrading the CPU you probably won't see any improvement in framerate

Do the things in correct order:

First mobo cpu ram then gpu

If you upgrade your gpu you may break it from power draw from poor motherboard , it can bluescreen till you ragequit or 1000 different things.
If you upgrade your mobo cpu ram you will have better experience with the same games you play (till you buy a new gpu).

I've paired to a friend a rx480 with a amd fx 4000 4ghz 4 cores (some numbers on that 0) and he cant pull gpu to max or play any newer game without stutters (pubg)

You can do one or the other but its wiser and safer first building your house from the ground not the roof :D

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

Dota 2 and Counter-strike: Global Offensive

7500-7600 there is no h on desktop (if im not wrong) if you have 7600k same price (you can afford) it's better for futureproofing but you can save a lot of money picking a ryzen with a b350m i think

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

some asus or gigabyte cheap 350m if ryzen 2 , dont buy cheap msi (in my experience) they are a pain in the ass

Given the CPU and GPU situation, I'd upgrade the GPU first. You're still going to have a CPU bottleneck, but it shouldn't hit on anything below Triple AAA gaming. If you're at 60 Hz, it should be fine. It's still a Piledriver based CPU, though those APUs lack the L3 cache.

Any of the real 4 cores in either Intel 8th Gen or Ryzen will work wonders going forward for that type of gaming usage.
