Hey LTT community,

My college recently got a new supercomputer and I happened to get two nodes from the old one for free! Yay new NAS for free! It has a 3WARE 9550sx-12si 12 sata port raid controller. After two hours of google searching and website surfing I can't find any documentation regarding this raid card to walk me through how to change the raid settings. It's currently running raid 5 on 8 1tb drives and raid 1 on 2 320gb drives and I would like to change it to raid 5 on 7 1tb drives.

push button when booting, but that is gonna be very power hungy, a newer system will say you money.

I figured it out thanks! Since I'm planning to run freenas, would 4 cores with 16gb of ram suffice instead of both CPUs to save power?

This is a very power hungry platform, removing a cpu won't to too much.

This also isn't a gread freenas platfrom as you have a raid card, not a hba.
