OK. So here's the scoop: I plan on having a custom-built desktop done thru ibuypower once I'm ready & have enough dough. I pretty much have all my components picked out except for a SSD. For the setup I'm going for, the large HDD I will have will be primarily used for storage while the SSD will be used as the boot drive only. I'm not really after the newest, greatest tech people are using, I just expect really good, quick boot times & to not overstep by build budget by much.

But I'm not sure if I should go with a M.2 SSD or a PCI-E SSD. I have heard PCE-I is fastest, but I'm not sure if I want to pay extra for something that's top of the line. If anyone can help me out, it would be very much appreciated! Also, a little bit of guidance on the best drive brands might come in handy too! If anyone needs any details or wants to ask me anything, just drop me a line & I'll try to get back with you!

Thanks & hope someone can help!

Kyle.

Frees up a PCIe slot for future use.

Any difference in speed between the two SSDs will not be noticed by you.

Most M.2 SSD are so fast, you can't really FEEL a difference between that and something like a Intel PCIe 750 series SSD.
