gtx 1050 driver

got a PC off a friend, mega upgrade from my old rig, but whilst trying to install the asus gtx 1050 driver (new windows install) im always getting the error "NIVIDIA Installer cannot continue" "This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows."

He has had the 1050 working in this PC before and i have tried several of the drivers (even outdated ones) but i am constantly getting the same error.

I have also tried using a DDU tool to make sure there was no other gfx drivers on the PC but had the same error.

Tried updating everything on the PC but still running into the same error.

I have eve tried the "Disable driver signature enforcement" but it still is not working....

type in winver and hit OK

what version you have?

Wait.. is that Windows 10? Newest version is 1803 and you need at least 1511 (or is it 1551?) to be able to install Pascal drivers on W10.

Also make sure you got the correct 32/64bit version

yeah its windows 10, i have gone into the windows update through settings, the only updates it is showing is for nvidia drivers but fails to install.

You'll need to upgrade to the newest version of windows, keep looking around in your updates. You'll have to upgrade to whatever the latest creators update is out there. Without that, Nvidia will refuse to upgrade your drivers.

Personally I find it easier to download the newest windows version rather than wait for the updater to install every update when the version I’m on is so out of date.

i tried to manually download the newest update but it seems to be failing to install

thanks for all the reply's, the windows service for windows updates was not running but i have managed to sort it all out and am now able to use my GTX1050 as it is meant to be used
