This is going to be weird.

The network has internet, that much is clear. This polycom phone has a IP address, but its not getting a internet connection. current router is a arris modem. Is there something I may be missing perhaps that is preventing this phone from having a internet connection?

You say arris modem, modems and router are different. Are you using Voice service from your cable provider? Also, whats the model number of the arris modem? Need to establish if its just a modem, a modem/ router or a modem/router/EMTA.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I would try disabling SIP ALG under Firewall Link. If you can't find this option, please let me know the model number of your modem.

How are you testing the internet connection to the phone?

have you tried pinging the pbx server from a computer in the same network as the phone?

Yes. Computer on the network. The issue has now been passed to someone else so it's not my issue anymore, but I'd love to figure out for the future if it's still relevant.
