3DS XL hardware question

Does the 3DS and XL directly draw power from the wall when it is plugged in or does it just charge the battery and the power comes from the battery. It's just I want the battery to last as long as possible and if I am sitting at my desk I want to plug it in as If it does draw straight from the wall and bypasses the battery then it will last longer without being needed to be charged up all the time. Oh and the reason I put it into the PC gaming space is simply because my question will get answered quickly.

In a electrical perspective, I would think it would go to the battery then the 3DS.

I would think so. I might try and remove the battery and see if it will run off it. Although I would prefer if someone would do it before me.

Yeah I thought it was like the dsi were you only have to remove the one plate.
