Hello everyone, my cpu is reaching upto 100 degrees Celsius (used RealTemp), I've owned this pre-built pc for just over a year now.  I recently started streaming, which lead to me noticing that my cpu wasnt able to keep up I then tried to investigate what the problem is and that's how I found out that it's overheating, I do not know if this has been the case since I got the pc.

So far I've been recommended a few coolers to swap to and I've also been told to reapply my thermal paste, my budget is very low at this current time so I'd would prefer the cheaper option.

Specs:

cpu: i7 7700k (Not overclocked - idles at 35-40c)
cooler: arctic freezer 11i
gpu: gtx 1070 (runs at 70c & idles at 35-40c, am sure that's fine though)
case: Corsair Carbide 100R

If there is anything else that you need to know, don't hesitate to ask, any help is highly appreciated!
Thank you for reading

Have you cleaned it out? dust bunnies hold a lot of heat.  try canned air, compressed air or vacuum cleaner.  Careful if you use an air compressor not to be too harsh.

I've only had it for just over a year, surely dust build wouldn't be so drastic to cause this much overheating

Can't hurt to take a look.

Clean out dust, repaste, see if that changes anything.

No, i doubt a dusty heat sink is your only problem but cleaning everything is where i would start.  You will be surprised at the dust that can accumulate in a year.

Thermal paste isn't too expensive so yes I suppose we can give re-pasting and cleaning dust out a try!  Any recommendations as to which paste I should use?  also is compressed air necessary?  I'm on an extremely low budget lads

Thoughts on this paste? http://amzn.eu/8gyruFY

Don't make me say it twice! :(  Not the type of thing you'd admit to in this type of forum lol!  The pc was a pre-built

Nothing to be ashamed of.  Since it is a pre-built you may want to check to see if your fans are configured properly,  intake in front and bottom, exhaust in rear and top.  maybe you can even move some fans around to spots that make more sense if able to.

The cooler seems fairly generic. I suggest you buy a 212 evo as suggested, but that's the bare minimum. I would recommend a 240mm or 280mm AIO water cooler for Corsair. Their H100 line up is great quality and is quiet. My brother uses a H115i on his 7700k, and doesn't go over 60c when overclocked to 5.1GHz.

oh ok the cooler sounded like it was after market. Yeah get some decent paste. It's a good thing to have lying around anyways.

The corsair coolers look like they might be the best way to go, I'll have to save up a bit though!

Yes, the thermal paste is great. Good brand and you will have a decent supply of it. Remember to apply a grain of rice at most

Appreciate the help!  Also one small other question, can you please link me one of those corsair cooler that would fit my case?  Preferably nothing above £70
