GPU OC issues with CSGO

Go to solution Solved by S h u r i k e n,

peculiar, try setting the fps limit to your monitors refresh rate (or double if you get enough fps in the first place)

Hi! I've recently overclocked my GPU more focused on Memory Clock usage. I've used the usual Valley Benchmark to test whether overclocks are stable or not, although I only made them run once or twice every after +10Mhz increment on the memory clock, so far I haven't stumbled upon any issues except for csgo. I more often play PUBG using the same oc settings and has not run into some problems with the current setup, but when I started playing CSGO the game would hang indefinitely until I ctrl+alt+deleted out of it, coming back into the game was impossible without restarting the client.
Here are the OC Specs

GTX 750 1gb OC

Voltage +10mV

Core +200Mhz
Memory +535Mhz

overclocking gpu specially for CSGO is not worth.
CSGO is heavly cpu intensive game, if you can overclock your CPU that will give you boost in fps in csgo.

Yes, but it wasnt specifically overclocked for CSGO but for pubg, I focused on vram oc because I think 1gb is causing stutters, I think I have lowered the stutter after mem oc though.

I'll try that, I saw the same suggestions before I posted here but I'm desperate. Will let you know thanks!

Every game is different and will load the GPU in a different way.

Although CSGO isn't considered the most stressful of games, it's doing calculations that your card can't correctly do at your current clocks and voltages. I had a similar issue with Europa Universalis IV with a FX-8320 and R9 280X based system.

Game:

It put virtually no load on the system but would destroy any overclocks to say the least....

Interesting.. I found that limiting FPS was the solution, maybe it was messing with the way graphics reset/load every after round or when textures are being called out

Instead of spitting out 300FPS average, for example, you have it now limited to whatever you set it to (i.e. 144FPS) thus putting less load on the GPU making it stable.

If you want to, remove the FPS limit and use something such as MSI Afterburner's OSD (On Screen Display) to check if you GPU's bios is going to a lower clock on the boost table. It may be doing this because CSGO isn't drawing enough power to make the card to boost to maximum voltages and clocks thus making your overclock unstable.
