Hello, I'm about to get a new wifi router to replace the constantly crashing old one and want to improve the whole network in the process.

The picture shows the situation: red dot is current router placement, by the way approx. 1m away from a microwave.

Red area is current coverage, green area is desired coverage. How could I achieve this? I don't have a lot of money to throw at this and don't desire fast speeds (I have like 4Mb from the ISP anyway). Are there routers with better range than others? Should I get more routers?

What is your budget?

Access point/repeater isn't that expensive if you are okay with older model, this isn't 2008 where network stuff is so expensive.

get this https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-TL-WA850RE/dp/B00E98O7GC

Run it access point mode since you are going to ditch the older one.

and if you can't even afford it, I think you have serious problem than your wifi.

I think any budget router will provide a significant improvement, have you tried calling your ISP and asking for a new wifi router? I got mine upgraded for free and it's a million times better than the old one I had, it comes with 802.11AC + Gigabit ports

All I can recommend is find a dual band router, with your budget Im not sure if thats possible or not. Because Microwaves interfere on the 2.4 Ghz band when they are on. I suggest looking at TP Link.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Try testing performance without the repeater as well, usually they cause more harm than good since they broadcast on the same channel they receive on, eating up twice the airtime.
