Audio/static issue with back I/O?

Ziggzu

Hi all, the "problem" I'm curious about is why my back I/O ports produce weird static noises. When I use my mic from the back green and red mic ports it sounds distorted and low-ish quality and also has a constant humming/static noise. The same thing happens with whatever i plug into it. It's not a huge issue since my front I/O ports work perfectly but I'm really just curious if there's a reason why and if I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.

@wirs I'm not quite sure what that is, (so likely not) but I know the motherboard is MSI H270 PC MATE LGA1151 ATX.

Now that I think of it iIf an I/O shield is just the metal thing then yeah I think I have it installed!

Wiring of rear connector likely goes near EMI sources on motherboard on its way to audio codec chip.

In general there's so much other things to worry about in designing motherboard (and space restrictions) so that you can only hope they didn't do some mistake in audio implementation.
