Is a Titan X Maxwell a deal for $549.00 or would a 1070 be better?

Maybe SLI 2 1060s? that would get numbers real quick.

If you dont want to I would go for the 1070

SLI isn't supported well anymore and more importantly, 1060s CANNOT SLI.

I would say Titan Maxwell is a bit better card than 1070 since 1070=980ti, but I say go for 1070 since it runs quite a bit cooler.

Oh, I'm dumb. With the titan - If he has good airflow temps would be a bit better. Still runs better as a card. I'd go for the titan.

For 540 I would get a 1070ti. The titan x is pretty similar in performance to a 1070 just like it is pretty similar in performance to the 980ti. It's not worth 540.

Titan X Maxwell can perform better than a 1070 especially if you unshackle it from it's subpar cooling solution, put it on water and OC the shit out of it. Without it, 1070 has the advantage in the form of aftermarket cooling solutions like Asus Strix or MSI Gaming or EVGA FTW.

But like others pointed out, for similar price you can have 1070ti or even a 1080.

At that point you might as well just have gotten a 1080ti

That's an F in the profile pic

How much are they going for right now? OP is talking about +- $550 range, if a 1080ti goes for about 800-900$ it's not really comparable, is it? PCP lists the cheapest 1080ti for $750, this is still $200 more than what the OP considers.

I agree it would be nice if everyone who lists their needs and budget could pay 35-50% more but it doesn't work like that I'm afraid ;-)

Unless you were talking about putting a Titan Maxwell on water in which case I agree, you shouldn't do that. It was an off-handed comment on the performance, definitely not invitation to go shopping for waterblocks :D
