I went to boot up my ps3 for some oldschool dark souls,as prep. For the remaster. to my surprise,The screen doesnt detect the HDMI cable.not the signal,no the cable it says no cable connection at all.

It wasnt abandoned for that long like I used it maybe 2 or 3 week ago.

I tried messing around with the cable,no results.

The cable and its input in both the ps3 and the screen seems fine.

So Im wondering what would cause such a surprising malfunction out of nowhere ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

if it is not your tv or the cable itself there isn't much we can help, ps3 might be just dead

Yea, but I've never heard of a console just dying like that...

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

you will have to start fiddling around...

- sure the TV is on the right input? (my LG got stupid crap like HDMI1 - HDMI2 - HDMI3 - HDMI Side1 ...

- change cable

- use another monitor/tv

- wiggle a bit on the PS3 port (mine was damaged and only worked when the cable was just sooooo in this angle supported by some cardboard....)

Port is fine... Then there's two variables:

  1. Cable is dead.
  2. TV is not configured right.

This is what I can think of right now.

-Sadly,screen only has 1 HDMI input

-Tried moving the cable in all directions, nothing.

I have a friend nearby that has a PS4,I will just get him to test the cable,or borrow his to see if its the screen or the ps3 insted of buying a new cable and it just turns out it was the screen.

Problem is,hes currently out of town.

I guess all I can do is wait :/

Have you used for the last time ps3 with hdmi? , i think ps3 needs to reconfigure from component to hdmi , turn off ps3 and turn on holding power for 5 secs (till it beeps 2 times i think) thats how you tell ps3 to use hdmi over component i think.

It sounds to me like you need to reset your PS3 video settings. While turning on your PS3, hold the power button down for about 5 seconds until you hear two beeps. This should reset your video settings to basic and allow you to configure the output (composite/component/HDMI) choice.

Ok,so Update:

-I managed to buy a new HDMI cable, wasnt that cheap but hoping it would last I bought it anyway.

-Still no image on the old screen.

-but,I ran it on a friends screen with @Peskanova instructions,and It worked !

I ran the same instructions on My screen, and It worked !

It seemed to turn on and off at the beginning, but it looks stable now.

Thanks :)
