I'm going to upgrade my PC December and I know I'll have a budget of $500, what should I get?

the things I'm upgrading are my CPU, Motherboard (Micro ATX) and RAM and I'm getting AMD guaranteed

Why are you only considering AMD? Is there something in your use case that requires an AMD processor?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

This would be more suitable if your use case is gaming.

If it's not gaming ditch the GPU and go with a Ryzen 5 and more RAM.

i like linux

isn't the 1060 worse than the 1050

I think you need to do a little research beyond just asking here for AMD processors.

I would at least consider the i5-8400 and an H310 board.
