So I am going to buy an r9 290 and the windforce one seems like the best option. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125500

I know that the Twin Frozr will be out in 2 months and the DCUII doesnt have a set date but even if they were out I Think I would go for this one because gigabyte has a good rep and this card has 3 fans! I understand the price is inflated but... I am in america and I have to go back to sweden (where shit is expensive AF) and I want to pick something up while im here because of that. What do you guys think?

HAHAHAAHAHAHAH

Listen. Why would I buy the gtx 780 when the r9 290 is better anyway for games. IT is 50 bucks more than a dcuii gtx 780 and it can mine. I dont see your logic.

sure I guess, waste your money on an +$180 product

I dont Think you saw that the reason I want this now is because if I go back to sweden without it I need to pay 25% more for taxes and the internation shipping which will get me a reference card at best.

I understand that, but there is a difference between seizing and opportunity and throwing it away. IF YOU WANT, get it, but the intention of mining is laughable at this point, as mining bitcoin will mainly result in a loss of profits from electricity usage. If you are mining lite coins, sure but it will take a couple months to break even with that new purchase of yours. Coin mining is kind of a joke to me at this point. Do what you want I'm just saying the R9 290 is not WORTH it considering you could have bought an r9 290x non-reference at that price if you could wait, not factoring the international shipping and taxes. If I were you, and you just want to game, just get a non-reference 780 with a non-reference PCB that can overclock properly. If you still have this fantasy of mining, go for the r9 290.

The windforce r9 290 beats the 780 and its 50 bucks more. If you think that the r9 290 is the rip off look again, the 780 IS WORSE and is 50 bucks less even after all these months of its existence. even if the coin mining doesnt work out (unlikely) then I will still be acheiving higher preformance.

No it's not, Linus just posted a video today showing even watercooled the 780 will outperform the 290 in most cases and is even nearly 10 celcius cooler. Also nVidia offers better features over AMD (Shadowplay, boost 2.0, Physx) and Mantle isn't even out or proven yet. Is AMD better for mining? Yes. Will you make money from it? Some but you won't make what you could have before it really hit. It's not worth it putting all the wear and tear on your components.

That is if you run at higher resolutions which I can't tell you do since your SIG just says "Asus 27""
