I need a PSU

hi,

so here's the problem: i have bought a intel dual socket mobo with e5 2620's. what i haven't done is look at how many eps connectors i need (2 8pin)..... i need a PSU with 2 8 pin eps connectors..... any suggetions?

Depending on what power supply you have, you could just get a splitter like this as long as your PSU is a quality unit.

i have a 550 watt unit from corsair... not sure it has enough capacity but i'll just buy a new PSU and a splitter!

Which exact unit? @STRMfrmXMN will be able to tell you better than I can if that PSU can sustain the dual load.

just for curiosity... what motherboard did you get? i have two 2640s and i need a cheap motherboard for them

Looking at the PSU Tier list that is maintained by Strmfrmxmn, the VS series PSUs are not very good. I think your idea to get a new PSU and the splitter will be your best route.

Whats the purpose of the build? Also, will they be overclocked if they are even able to?

so, i will be running vm's, some server duties and some gaming. so i have a R9 380 (looking to upgrade to r9 380 cf(havent checked suppport for cf))  about 8 HDD's and 2 SSD's

what PSU do you have right now?

Is it modular?

What are you gonna do with it?
Is it ATX compatible...

Just get something like an EVGA G2 that has dual 8-pins from the factory and that will be much easier than using splitters.

The sad thing is that you have to get a 750W or so.
