I have a WD Blue 3TB drive that is no longer reading data. It shows up in hardware devices, but it shows no media.

I did notice it has a large dent in one corner. That could have hit the header, or something else.

I am getting ~10 quick beeps and then one long beep for a few seconds, repeat.

Any recover service that can help here? I know Linus used DriveSavers before in one of his vids.

The data on here isn't crucial, but I would like to try to bring it back.

The dent itself shouldn't cause anything but the bump that caused the dent probably did something. Either way, you'd be looking at probably thousands of dollars to recover data that "isn't crucial."

Yeah, I don't think it is worth it, but, I just thought I'd ask...

If you're at the toss it out stage, you can attempt to open the drive up and see if the heads are parked (do this in an environment with minimal air movement). If they're still on the disk, then they might just be stuck. I have no idea as to a safe way to move them to a parked stage but don't drag them, as they stick to the drive platter. Also, lifting the reader head too high can bend it, so be careful. Still, you're probably shit out of luck so it's at least something you could try doing. Perhaps google how to move the heads back (if that's even the issue).

What I CAN do it open that one corner, and try to bend back that dent. It could be that the header just got "dislodged inside that dent.

I'll wait on a few quotes I sent to different companies. See if they can help me. THEN I'll open it up...

My experience is that the metal cover is rather thick. Prying it back would be hard, and it won't just snap back into place. You'd also have to unscrew at least a couple of screws before you even begin to pry it. Whatever caused the dent hit the drive very hard. Also, based on the picture, it looks like the dent is over the platters, not the drive head. The head is usually located at the bottom near the connections.

OK, I took the cover off. There's a slight dent in the platter.

Now that the cover is off, I get a clicking sound. So, I assume it is now a door stop...

Unless any software will help?

Unless the software can undent the platter, yeah it's a door stop.
