Server PSU Brands

I just got as 2U tyan server, and it needs a PSU, i had it running on an ATX psu but it died and id rather get a proper 2U server PSU as i want to add a video card for Plex. i have gone on newegg, as it seams to be the only legit looking online store that sells them, can I get recommendations on reputable brands and sites to buy a 750w server psu or something close, i calculated that the server need about 650w

I've never gone wrong with Zippy.

Seasonic also do 1U & 2U PSU's

delta is also a very save bet

Just an idea but have a look at ebay sellers that sell used server hardware, they might also sell the PSUs separately. Just an idea though, don't know for sure.

ok great, thanx guys i appreciate the help. i have one last question. until the new psu arrives, i found some old compaq esp127 psu's and the board they plug into, i have modded them to work with regular ATX pinouts. since these are 500w each, does anyone know if i can run both and be able to draw 1000W or is it just a redundant 500?

You could hook up individual components to each PSU, and thus, allow a total of 1000w. But unless your Server Chassis has actual legit redundant PSU's, no.

ok thanx. I did dome research and i guess each manufacturer is different lol duh, but in my case no one psu gets used while the other is in a sleep mode until the first one runs into issues. but thanx to your guy's help the server is running and i have the new psu ordered. Do i just leave the thread or am i supposed to close it or delete it or something?
